T130 Afro Brazil presents Afro-Brazilian art by Marcelo D’Salete, Werllayne Nunes, Tiago Sant’Ana, Ge Viana, Ventura Profana and more, as well as a dossier on the Afro-Brazilian Experience curated by guest editors, Nohora Arrieta Fernandez and Matheus Gato. Continuing Transition Magazine’s tradition for hard-hitting interviews with political thinkers and activists, Radical Worlds features a conversation with iconic Brazilian feminist Sueli Carneiro about state violence against black bodies, councilwoman Marielle Franco’s assassination, and her generation’s focus on dismantling the myth of racial democracy in Brazil. T30 includes the 2021 Chautauqua Janus Prize winning short story by Enyeribe Ibegwam, “After School Hours” and Best American notable essayist Karen Taylor’s lyric erotic memoir tracking the ups and downs of a relationship with a “difficult man.” The philosophical meditation and manifesto on “The White Supremacist Collective Unconscious” by Ronald Richardson and Ibrahim Sundiata’s reflection on his trips to Ghana and African-American origin stories round out the issue…along with poetry by emerging poet Justin Danzy and historical fiction by Sarah Valentine.
